Live by the List!

What a happy event in the mid 1800’s when Mrs. Beeton published her book”Mrs Beeton’s Book of Household Management“.  We still strive to achieve the perfect balance of household management to be the most cost and time effective household possible.  What a glorious feeling to have your house running like a well tuned engine so you have enough free time to “play” with your family and friends and pursue your work, ambitions and hobbies.  All this, while making your perfection in household management look effortless!  Planning, planning and more planning.  Foresee the pitfalls and make adjustments to prevent them.  Keep flexible enough to accommodate sudden unavoidable events.  This is how the Domestic Pro excels.

Before bed, make a list of tomorrows appointments, errands, purchases and chores.  Organize this list.  Prioritize the items on the list.  Give them number order for the day and set times to the list so you keep on schedule.  For example:

Drive 2 school, exercise, walk the dog, dry cleaners, drug store(shampoo 4 kids), post office, bank, wash fence in back yard, touch up paint in hall ways, shower, reply to Smith wedding.

  1. exercise
  2. walk the dog
  3. drive 2 school at 8:00 a.m.
  4. post office
  5. bank
  6. drug store(shampoo, soap, toothpaste, band aids, greeting card 4 wedding)

This is a typical day of efficient household management.  Every day check your calendar before you begin your list.  Include all your calendar items with your errands.  Even your hobbies and fun should be noted on your daily “list”.  Live by the list!!!
